Babalakin charges ministers to align with President’s private sector driven vision

The chairman of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN) is asking all government appointees to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of promoting a private sector-driven business.

In his remarks at the opening of the Murtala Muhammed Airport2 (MMA2) Premium departure concierge said the most important thing is that government is there to encourage the private sector by creating more businesses.

He further stated that this should be the mandate of his soon-to-be appointed Ministers and of anybody working in this government so that they can enlarge the economy, employ more people in very comfortable jobs, and have a greater nation.

His words, “The most important thing is that government is there to encourage the private sector. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated very clearly he wants to promote the private sector.

“He wants to encourage the private sector.  He wants to create more businesses. This should be the mandate of anybody working in this government so that we can enlarge the economy, employ more people in very comfortable jobs, and have a greater nation.”

Speaking on the premium departure concierge, Babalakin said, “We are students of continuous development with the single objective of improvement of the quality travel in Nigeria. We have two premium lounges that cater to those who spend considerable time at the airport and want comfort. This is in furtherance of that.

“There are passengers who require more than those passing by. They want to be where they can be productive, for their business in a relative comfort like what we see when we travel to more advanced countries We still have a lot of plans for developing this airport with the necessary support and ensure that this becomes a haven of comfort and outstanding travel experience for Nigerians.”

He disclosed that MMA2 had shown that there is room for private capital contribution to governmental purposes, adding that since MMA2 came on board, it has had some good effects on those who have terminals.

“To him, they are keen on having what we have done, impacted very positively and we will continue with a lot of patriotism to develop more.”

Asked if the unveiling of the premium departure concierge was part of recouping his over N35 billion investments in the terminal project, he said aviation is usually a long-time investment and not a place for an investor that needs a quick return.

“We have been on for a number of years now and we are seeking to improve efficiency and benefit our customers or clients. In the process, we hope we will make some profit”.
